Yesterday I was reading an old devotional that I haven't opened in a very long time. The passage selection for July 2nd was Matthew 11:20-30. I really liked these two verses:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (Matthew 11:28-29 NIV84)
Jesus freely offers an easy and light load when we go to him with our tired and weary hearts. He offers rest! When we are yoked (tethered) to Jesus, we are close to him. He teaches us what to take on and what to leave for others to carry.
Jesus's shoulders do the primary work- all we need to do is stay close to him.
