Best of 2011- Where can I find freedom?

I wanted to share my best posts of 2011, so here they are!

Where can I find freedom?

Last week I wrote about a lesson I learned regarding generosity and laundry detergent, today I'd like to discuss the freedom I experienced from sharing this.

I was actually quite embarrassed to talk about how stingy I had been with the laundry detergent. From the comments and conversations I had after sharing my story, I realized how freeing talking about my problems can be. I believe there are spiritual forces at work in the world. And an enemy that seeks to deceive and rob us of the freedom found in Jesus.

This enemy condemns our hearts. He can convince us to keep the sins in our lives hidden and trap us into thinking if we confess (fill in the blank), something bad will happen. This is anything but the truth. David, a king in the Bible, shares how he was plagued with guilt:

Finally, I confessed all my sins to you

and stopped trying to hide my guilt.

I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”

And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. - Psalm 32:5 (New Living Translation)
