Review of "Truth in the Tinsel"

Even though I'm not yet a parent, I'm always looking for appropriate books for kids. I didn't even need to crack the cover of this ebook to know that I would love it. I know Amanda primarily through her blog Oh Amanda, but she also blogs about fun stuff she does with her kids at Impress Your Kids. She was previously a children's pastor, so I was thrilled when she said she was writing a children's advent book and there was an opportunity to preview it.

I think the artwork on the front of Truth in the Tinsel is absolutely adorable! I am happy to have found a children's book with a Biblical worldview to read at Christmastime. There are a total of 24 days with each focusing on a different aspect of the Christmas story.

I really enjoyed this ebook. Amanda says she designed it for toddlers and preschoolers, but I think with the "challenge" sections you could include primary grade kids too. I appreciated the book's organization. Each day there are clues to focus on as you read a passage of scripture. You then have a detailed picture and supply list for making that day's ornament. You finish the day with a few points to reinforce the story. The message of Jesus' birth was clear throughout.

There are supply lists for each day's ornament in addition to a master list. If you need variations on the number of days to complete the book, there are choices for that too.

Bottom line, buy this ebook. If you don't have any children in your life to complete the activities with, buy all the supplies and give it to a friend. What a great gift that would be! The price is only $4.99.
