Handmade Baby Blankets

This week I have the pleasure of visiting friends I haven't seen in a few years. They are expecting their 3rd baby boy and I thought it would be fun to bring them a little present for their new bundle of joy.

In May, Trina guest posted how to make a flannel swaddling blanket. So I went over to Jo-ann's a bought some fabric. There were four different fabrics I really liked, so I decided to make two blankets instead of just one.

I am mildly obsessed with stars (I have 3 tattooed on my foot), so I absolutely loved the material that had blue stars.

My sewing machine doesn't have fancy decorative stitching, so I used the zig zag stitch. I also trimmed all around the edges of the blanket, not just the corners.

The other one is just adorable. It says "I love Mommy & Daddy." How stinkin' cute!

I love giving gifts. Being able to give a handmade gift is even better. I hope my friend enjoys the flannel blanket.

Handmade baby blankets definitely work for me!
