Have you ever seen yourself in a mirror, noticed you were slouched and it caused you to stand up straight? I have. My body's natural tendency is to hunch forward. I hate it. It is not until I realize it that I can change my posture. I have to be continually reminded to stand upright. The more I am reminded to stand upright, the more it becomes my habit and, thus, my default stance.
The word "upright" is written many times in the Psalms and Proverbs, often in conjunction with a promise of a generational blessing or inheritance. It is imperative that we are reminded of this inheritance and, over time, we won't have to be reminded any more, we will just know it. Who we are, our identity, in Christ will become our default stance.
